    So my father who came to this country with $50 and a dream, and worked 80 hours a week, for over 20 years to build his business in one of the worst neighborhoods in Boston during the 80's and 90's when you would get robbed/killed just for being white and there...but someone ELSE made that happen?

    There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me — because they want to give something back. They know they didn’t — look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something — there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there.

    If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.

    I think Obama is the biggest turd to ever walk the Earth, and I'm not sure what point he is trying to make (not gonna watch the whole video), but I can see where he is coming from.

    Business owners, for the most part, do get help. They get financing from banks, money from investors, employees that will bust their asses 60+ hours a week, etc. You think Bill Ruger got rich by making millions of guns single-handedly? No.

    Still, I don't think that just because a business owner "got help" that means the government should take all his shit and tax him into oblivion.

    Find me a person that started a business with no financing or investors, zero employees at any time, picking up all of their inventory directly from the factory, and doing all cleaning / maintenance / repairs to their business.

    The point he is making is that you don't really own anything. Everything you have is the result of help, of gifts from others, of good fortune, and of all that preceded, aided, and failed to stop you. Now because nothing you have is really yours, it should be considered ours, right? You didn't earn it. We did. So pay up. Share the wealth. Stop being so capitalist. From each of us should come what our ability can deliver. To each should be given his needs. Sound familiar?

    Secondarily he is reminding you of the moral relativism he worships. No man is really good. None are really bad. There is no success, just good luck. There is no failure. Everybody does what they do and nobody is better than anyone else. We are all special in the same way. So who are you to question the mob? What gives you the right to anything better than they have? Did you invent the earth (or the internet)? You are just a little man, so bow before your King and give what you have, but only take what you need.

    Do you still see where he is coming from?

    Without Bill Ruger, Ruger would not exist. Without Bill Gates Microsoft would not exist. With Steve Jobs, Apple would not exist. Without Robert Noyce, Intel would not exist (and you wouldn't be reading this since he and Jack Kilby invented the Integrated Circuit). Without Micheal Dell, Dell Computers would not exist.

    Notice a pattern here? All these men built those businesses above. Those businesses still stand today, some are going on 40+ years in business. Those businesses would be NOTHING without the men above who built them. They are the ones who had an idea. They are the ones who sold that idea to venture capitalists and banks to build capital (and they don't give out money for the hell of it, they want to make a profit). They are the ones who took that idea and capital and executed it into the products you see today. Those men and those men alone built those companies. Because of their talent, their idea, their drive to succeed, and how they treated their employees, people chose to work for them. If you hire an employee to help you your not doing it right. You hire employees because they can produce what you need them to produce to make the company money.

    Obama is trying to lie and say the opposite, that those companies would still have come about without those men (Microsoft would never in a million years be where it is if there was no Bill "Ruthless" Gates to command it).

    If you repeat a lie often enough, it becomes true.

    All I can say is WOW!

    I don't have a business because I never took the RISK! All these great men mentioned and yes I did say great took risk. They all succeeded and they got their reward. If they had failed then them alone would have burdened the loss. Most of us don't take risk because we don't want to burden the loss. It takes a certain type of person to go out on a limb like that. To say they got that way because the rest of us pitched in and built roads is ridiculous! We all have the roads and are free to use them as we please. If one of us uses public works and makes a profit then that's their business ans their profit. Who am I to take their money because they used the common good better than I did? We all have the same opportunity and if one does better than the other than good for them and tough luck for me!

    Yes. There is truth to his statements. Nobody ever got rich on their own. When Obama says "You didn't become wealthy by yourself", I have to agree with him. Whether you win the lottery (other peoples money pooled together), or you start a corporation, you are never alone in it. Microsoft or Ruger wasn't built up by one man, it was built up by hundreds, or thousands of people all working for the company. A man can start the business, he can run the business, but to say he alone is the success of the company is ignorant and insulting.

    But, like I said, I don't think that gives the government or other people the right to start taking their stuff.

    Without employees, Ruger would not exist. Without employees, Microsoft would not exist. Do you get it?

    Seems the trend is to end our posts on a dramatic one-liner...
