Default Hampshire Mall is now "entirely tobacco free"

I went over to Dick's in Hadley on my lunch break to pick up some 9mm. There is now a large sign out front that says "The Hampshire Mall is proud to be an entirely tobacco free facility." No smoking inside or out. I don't smoke cigarettes nor do I much care to be around cigarette smoke, but I care even less for criminalizing legal behavior. The next step is undoutedly becoming entirely firearms free. BTW, I inserted a big wad of dip before going in--they're not ENTIRELY tobacco free.

    is is private property?

if so, they can tell people to not smoke in their property. If you dont like it, go shop somewhere else.

I tell people to not smoke in my house or close to my windows. My friends that come over and want to smoke go outside and walk 10 feet. I dont want their cig smell all over my place.

I think you can still smoke outside the New one.

I smoke...but I have no problems respecting their wishes.

After all, it is private property. They are rpobably sick of cleaning up all the ciggerette buts on the ground.

I mean, come on, I might have a right to smoke.....but I don't have a right to throw my skanky butts all over the place!

"The Hampshire Mall is proud to be an entirely tobacco free facility."
Does this also mean that there are no tobacco shops or stores that sell tobacco products inside the mall ????

Not surprising. UMass Amherst is also going to be "tobacco free" starting July 2013.

I'm allergic to tabacco smoke, but that aspect of the general smoking population drives me more batty than breathing their smoke. It's been a few years, but outside a "No Smoking" building, I watched a smoker who was leaning against a large butt receptical built into the design of the building for 10 minutes smoking. Even though I had to walk through his smoke when I left the building it was watching him take his last, long drag on his butt before flicking it across the walkway into the grass before walking into the building.

And the number of times I watch smokers flick their glowing butts out open car windows without a second thought that they're littering.

Malls in New Hampshire went smoke free years ago. I still carry a gun when I am there. No signs of NO-Gun policies.. Although their own security people don't carry.. But there is a Real Police substations in malls in manchester and Nashua and they certainly carry.
