Default Just had a giant cat sighting in my yard (NH)

I stepped outside to go water the garden. The yard is bordered by trees and a brook, and the crows were going nuts in the trees. This always means something is there, so I went to go have a look expecting to find an owl or maybe a coyote.

What did I see? A large cat-shaped animal proudly walking its way along my brook in the woods. It was about 4 feet long, an even light-brown color (not speckled like a bobcat), short hair, and looked like a juvenile. It was in great shape, no blotched skin or battle damage or anything. I saw it several times through the trees before it got too far away for me to get to.

So what was it?? What is possible? I know it isn't a bobcat (unless they can be light-brown and thin). Online searches for mountain lions don't look like this. I also searched for cougars... that's the closest match. Any other possibilities?

Should I call the news media and cause a panic like it would in MA? I'm new in NH so not yet fully accustomed to their strange ways here.

did the tracks look like this? 000ooo000?

Don't call anyone...That tends to get shit shot in the name of 'public safety' Set up a trail cam and hope it comes back. Could be a juvenile mountain lion, but they 'don't exist'...

Bobcat. They don't always have spots.
Rocking Retrievers. Dogs doing what they were bred to do.

Cougar and mountain lion are the same thing. So is a catamount.

I've been looking for an excuse for a trail cam... I think I'll get one. The brook secluded in the trees is a good place for such animals to walk w/o getting seen (well, except by angry crows).

Whatever it is is still over there, according to the crows... but it is too far in the woods for me to get to w/o getting covered with mud and ticks.
