Concealed Carry Comming To New Jersey?
I'm not sure if it's been brought up here or not but I feel this is very important to get the word out about. New Jersey State Assembly Bill A1282, labeled as the "Citizens' Protection Act", could give New Jersey residents the right to concealed carry.
Here's a link to the Bill:

Here is a link to find your legislator. I urge you to contact them and ask them to support A1282

Please pass this on to as many people as you can. Thanks !!!

I thought New Jersey was a "may issue" state?

It may be a May Issue state but I know of no one even municipal court judges who I shoot with on the weekend are able to get a carry permit. The police departments here do not have to issue if they don't want to and they don't despite what the law reads! It says just that they "May Issue" but they do not.
The state police have just started forcing dealers to record all ammo transactions with the persons info that is buying. How can they do that you ask when there is no law on the books that says dealers have to do this? It's the state police. They make up their own rules as they go along. Sad but very true.Last edited by sig2009; 11-10-2008 at 04:41 PM.

Good luck. Sounds like a good law. 5 year shall-issue permits for $20 with a safety course (anything >=8hr from LEO or NRA). I didn't go over it with a fine tooth comb, but it sounds like the superintendent of the state police would issue to non-residents. If it passes, I'll get one.
Do you think it's worthwhile for me to send an email to all of the legislators saying that passage of the law would make me more likely to visit and do business in NJ?

I think any and all letters to the legislators in this state no matter who they were from would be a good thing?

Ma does look good compared to NJ. The only couple things we can do which you can't is buy any kind of handgun we want in a retail store or over the internet and buy ammo and reloading componets over the internet. Oh! I forgot we can have 15 rounders . Other than that you look like paradise to us in New Jersey.
