Dammit Portland!!!
Living in downtown Portland, applied for a ccw last month. Took the entire month (even though I hand delivered it to Portland PD). A got approved, now to find out there's only 2 officers who do the paperwork...and one's out sick. I was told it could be a week longer. WTF, this isn't a library card!

It's the government. You should assume any dealings with them will take all of the time allotted and maybe a little more.

You are correct, it came though today. Very laid back at the station in Portland, it's more stressful to register my car in town.

Sh*twood is gone, thankfully. The new Chief is a guy named Craig, seen him speak in my neighborhood and was almost impressed, seems like a nice guy. Intailly he was denying all CCW permits, but after his first month he turned a corner/had a talkin' to and now approves most of them.
But after 2 rounds of police and fire layoffs, the PD is more or less a skeleton of itself, and it's run by a broke city. Tons of new trouble up here.

We're a Shall-Issue state. Unless you are disqualified due to being a felon, domestic problems, drugs, etc, he cannot deny it.

The former Chief was quite inventive when it came to avoid issuing CCW.
I am not sure if anyone ever got one out of him.
So the new Chief James E. Craig is much better in a lot of ways.
