Over turn the ban on self defense in the NH State house.
From an email today:
Here is the email I sent:HB 1693, a bill to over turn the ban on self defense in the NH State house, is coming to the House floor for a vote on Wednesday, March 24.
The majority report found the bill be ITL (Inexpedient To Legislate, i.e. Shouldn't Pass), yet the minority (Republican) report found it “Ought to Pass”.

If the Democratic majority in the House Legislative Administration Committee has its way, your right to self defense will be restricted in the House, the people’s house and other legislative buildings.
GO-NH believes that HB 1693 should pass, with amendment, and you should call your Representative (find your House member here) and make your voice heard! Your right to self defense should not be restricted! Overturn the ITL on HB 1693 –AND- ask your Representative to Vote YES on Representative Itse’s HB1693 Floor amendment to HB 1693.
Click here: Text of House Bill 1693 Amendment is 7/8 of way down this page.
Representatives,
Please make the effort to overturn the ITL on HB 1693.
Vote YES on Representative Itse’s HB1693 Floor amendment to HB 1693.
Infringing upon a citizen’s right to self defense in public places will do nothing to reduce the likelihood that random acts of violence will occur.
Criminally insane or other deranged persons who have already stepped over the line and decided to commit murder will not be deterred by the thought of committing additional “lesser” crimes.
Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to your reply.

The email alert for this apparently went out late.
I failed to notice the dates when I posted the email.
The vote on HB 1693 already happened.
See how your Representatives voted here.Last edited by Andy in NH; 03-30-2010 at 03:29 PM. Reason: I can't type for s**t!

The motion was "inexpedient to legislate" and there were 191 yeas, mostly from democrats. The "yeas" meaning "yes, trash this bill".
Bear in mind this is different from actually voting on the bill. Someone filed a motion to trash it, and 191 people said yes- that's what it really means.
I would have figured this would be less partisan, but I guess I was wrong. Although, interestingly enough, there are MORE dems that
voted "nay" than there are "traitor" republicans. .
