Actual MP5s don't have the huge long barrel that the semi-auto knock offs have, right? In addition to being automatics, they're SBRs too. I mean, unless the movies and TV have all lied to me and they would never...

    Wow.

    That was professional.

The only issue that I have was the lead cop appeared to "play to the camera" in that he "function checked" the gun, without ammo, to see if it was FA or SA. IIRC, the FA version fires from a closed bolt, as does a SA, so, except for the selector on the reciever, how would one tell, without ammo?

That being said, I liked the offer to join the reserves, and they'll issue them one.....and the "with you here, ther'll be no crime."

If you pull a trigger, you have to pull together.

not having watched the video, (since i'm "at work") i'll take a W.A.G.
in the Army after cleaning and reassembling our M16s we were supposed to go through a function check....
and of course, would do so without ammo....
selector lever on safe, if it won't go, pull charging handle then put on safe (can only be on safe with hammer cocked)
pull the trigger, hammer should not fall.
put selector lever on semi, pull the trigger and hold, hammer should fall.
while holding the trigger to the rear, pull the charging handle and release
release the trigger and pull it, the hammer should fall.
switch selector lever to burst, pull the charging handle and release
pull the trigger and hold it back, hammer should fall.
while holding the trigger to the rear,
pull the charging handle three times and release.
release the trigger and pull it to the rear again, the hammer should fall.

that's how you function check an M16 with 3 round burst, and zero ammo.....

probably something similar for other firearms......

A machine gun doesn't require separate registration as an SBR.

I believe he said that you would shoot full auto firearms for familiarization purposes at the civilian academy, and that you would be issued a firearm if you became a reserve officer.

Well yeah, but you get my drift. It doesn't have a OMGWTFBBQ long retarded-looking barrel.

I have to say that the kid was being kind of a dick to the cop, who inmo was being perfectly reasonable in the way he handled that situation. It was clear to me that he was trying to make a point, and if he had dealt with a cop who was not so reasonable it would have gotten ugly. Glad to see this had a good ending, clearly this didn't happen in Assachusetts!
