Outdoor range
I currently belong to MVGC and love it. I'm looking to purchase a rifle and joining an outdoor range as well. I live on the north shore and looking for any suggestions on an outdoor range. Thanks in advance.

The distance you want to shoot at may determine which clubs you look at. There are only a few with ranges beyond 100 yards.

Also a member @ MVGC, so i know the local commutes.
Cape Ann - 45min+, nice club, but limited to 100yds
Harvard - 1hour+, nice club for action shooting, if thats your thing
Woburn Sportmans - 20-25min, 200yd range, fairly active schedule, good group of guys (I've shot here a lot)
Reading Rifle - 20min (less from lynn), really nice range, 25-175yd "small" range, and 200/300/600yd range w/ pits. also a member here (can be a wait, depending on time of year, to get in)
MRA - never shot there. 20-25min, ranges out to 200yd IIRC, but its bench shooting only from what I understand, through large tubesWhen it comes down to it, it's all just a matter of physics.

Im in the same boat. I joined MVGC when i only had a revolver and SR40 ...not expecting to have a rifle anytime soon. Now i have a Mosin and a 9MM carbine. Cant really do much with them unless i go to my buddies range which is a little hike. I hear reading is nice but impossible to get in to.

Also a member of MVGC. I only have pistols currently, but I made the mistake of taking up another member on a conversation about rifle shooting and he put a couple in my hands. I have a feeling I'll want to know more about rifle ranges in the area soon too. Looking forward to any comments/reviews folks can share. Jasper, thanks for the info on commute times.
