Need another Rifle ID
Hello. I do not have photos of this one (yet) but there is anothe rifle up in Maine in "Grandpa's safe" that we would like to figure out.
This one is also a bolt action rifle. All we know is that it's Italian. Here is a description of some of the markings found on it....

MADE IN ITALY
F.N.A.-BRESCIA
(THERE IS A SYMBOL, THAT LOOKS LIKE A HALF CIRCLE WITH DASHES COMING UP FROM IT)

Do any of those markings look familiar to anyone? What do we have here?
thanks!

I think it's a Carcano.
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. - C.S. Lewis

Sounds like a Mannlicher-Carcano, a rifle like this was used by Lee Harvey Oswald on 11/22/1963 in Dallas in the assassination of President Kennedy. It was the standard Italian service long arm through WWII.

I have been reading about this rifle in the last hour or so. Brings back that scene from Full Metal Jacket, when the Gunny was talking about Lee Harvey Oswald when he mentioned he got him with an "Old Italian bolt action rifle". So, the question now is, can you find 6.5X52mm ammo????

IIRC you will need the clip, to hold the ammo. Other wise you can only feed the rifle as a single shot.
