Rapid Assault Tactics (RAT) is a great way for the civilian to defend them selves when they don't have a weapon. ( See post on the Rat) However people, do to size, weight, shape, age, injuries etc might need/want more fire power to protect themselves and the edged weapon is next up in line.

Not only should you learn how to use a knife, you should know how to defend yourself against a knifer. The Rat system is meant to interject either a knife, gun or improvised weapon ( broken bottle) to defend or escape. There is a lot of technique to using a weapon but you have to be able to access the weapon. This is yet another area where the SEAL teams and the RAT system excelled, getting to that weapon.

For the true combatant we have a saying.
“ The only reason we use H2H is to allow time & opportunity to deploy our weapon.”

If you would like to learn more about this program call or e-mail me. If you want to try it out, I will be doing and intro to the program June 29th. Just check out the training calender.

I found this tactical video that teaches the right way to draw and fire after you get shot in the strong hand (skip ahead to 1:33). Are operators using this technique pretty often out in the streets? And should I think about switching to a Beretta because the open top slide would be less prone to jamming in this position?

Hi guys I got some questions about what the RAT is?
In short my H2H/Knife Instructor of 25 years Paul Vunak was contracted to train Navy SEAL team Six. At the Virginia beach facility. The Contract was four years.
Vunak was my teacher prior to the team training and I hooked up with him directly after his return, and what a difference 4 years made. WOW!!!

Because the soilders were not Martial Artists and had only a small window to be trained, a stream lined program was designed. Keeping in mind the attitude and mind set of the teams. The system is to integrate that team mind set with aggressive overwhelming fire power to disorient and devastate the opponent.
This system was meant to be integrated with either knife, firearms or and improvised weapon.

I believe the weapon integration is a key to this system. Any Martial Arts training that doesn't address and integrate a weapon is not realistic for today's problems.

If you would like to learn more about this program call or e-mail me. If you want to try it out, I will be doing and intro to the program May 18th. Just check out the training calender.
