Three anti-gun bills have been introduced in the Rhode Island legislature that seek to further infringe on our Second Amendment rights. Senate Bill 2720 (http://www.rilin.state.ri.us/BillText/BillText08/SenateText08/S2720.htm)and House Bill 7834 (http://www.rilin.state.ri.us/BillText/BillText08/HouseText08/H7834.htm)would ban the sale of semi-automatic handguns not equipped with so-called "microstamping" technology. Senate Bill 2742 (http://www.rilin.state.ri.us/BillText/BillText08/SenateText08/S2742.htm) would require all handgun ammunition manufactured or sold in Rhode Island to be coded with an individual serial number (ammunition serialization), and entered into a statewide database at the time of sale.

Check with cralri.com -- they have a pretty good idea of what is going on in the RI legislature and whether these bills have any chance of seeing the light of day.

The filing deadline just passed in the RI legislature. Has anyone sorted through the chafe to see what bills hold interest for us?

I'm sure Jim Archer at CRAL has.

H7013 looks like the only thing we have to worry about right now. They are looking to raise the permit fee from $40 to $100 for four years.

There are a few more bills coming up. A list of current firearms bills along with associated commentary is available at this page.
